Are you Mountain Ready?

Snowboarding and skiing are incredibly demanding physically. To be able to ride even the gentlest groomers all day your legs need to be absolutely bullet proof. Your legs are your shock absorbers, being in a constant, varying degree of a squat all day really takes its toll. The only way to be able to shred all week is to do some leg training before you get to the mountains.

I am a Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors level 2 coach, not quite a T-Rice or Shaun White but I know my double black diamonds from my bunny slopes. If you are getting ready for your first ever pilgrimage to the mountains you are 100% going to spend a lot of time falling over, getting back up and then falling over again. Your bum, knees and elbows are going to take a battering. You are going to need to do some good training to be mountain ready before flying out to the powder. Not only will you be falling over but you will be concentrating and working insanely hard to control your legs in a new way, something both mentally and physically draining.

If you are more of a fully fledged park rat, spinning, flipping and jibbing on anything you can get your board near, you are going to need some strong legs to get the extra pop to clear the knuckle on that XL jump line. Plus have the strength for your legs to absorb the impact of landing, add in the core strength to stay stable in the air or even to get that extra rotation in…there are loads of reasons to ensure your legs are ready to shred all week!

It doesn’t matter if you are a powder hound, prefer carving the groomers or if hiking up the hit some off piste territory the stronger you are before you get away the more you will enjoy your experience in the mountains.

This is where my Shred Ready 6 plan comes in, 6 weeks, 6 1-2-1 sessions before you hit the mountains and a free 30min recovery session for when you get back….not bad eh? Make the most of this deal as there are limited places!
